What age did you start to potty train your ds and would you do the same if you could do it again?

My ds is 2.6 and I'm in no hurry. Just interested in people's experiences so I can fend off MIL!!

ds1 was 2.6 and successful.

dd was aroung 2.4 and successful, though took a little longer than ds1.

ds2, however is 2.7 and nowhere near ready to try yet and I'm all for leaving the decision to him. no rush despite possible pressure from playgroup in Sept. Guess he'll be sent in pull-ups.

MIL was dropping hints that I should be potty training DS when he wasn't even 2 !! Ha Bloody Ha!!

Are you getting the " In my day they were out of nappies by 15m..." line from her? If so - ignore her

Yes betty What are the signs I'm meant to be looking out for? Ds can't pull up or down his trousers yet, or rather he doesn't, should I be encouraging him to do that? Should we get a potty for him to sit in when I go to the loo now or just wait until we're definitely going for it?

My mum also said she potty trained all of us when we were 2 whether we were ready or not... I also keep being told it's easy in the summer cos they can runround the garden with no pants on but I thought that defeated the point of them feling their pants are wet?
