Tongue Tied At 6 Months

Hi All, i'm looking for advice. I have just found out that my 6 months DD is tongue tied. She was diagnosed by Ann Dobson. I have had a consultation with her and she seems very good. I have booked another appointment to have it snipped next week. My concern is that she is 6 months and i'm really scared that she will be in a lot of pain. I'm furious that it has been missed by so many, so called private professionals. Can anyone put my mind at rest to reassure me that she won't be in a lot of discomfort. I read that at 6 months the procedure should be done under general anaesthetic and now i'm really worried. Any advice?

My DS had his tongue tie snipped at 7 months.

The Dr explained that it will not hurt because the skin they snip has no nerve endings in it hence no pain is felt.

Ds did get a bit upset about being "held down" by me with the nurse holding his head still. But the whole thing was over in literally 2 seconds and he went straight onto the breast with only a few tears at being held down.

The difference to his feeding/colic afterwards was amazing!

Oh and the DR said that they usually do use a tiny amount of GA if the child has teeth. DS had his 2 bottom teeth and the Dr was happy to do it with no GA with just the 2 bottom teeth. He said he would probably have used G&A if he's had his top ones too.

But the DR said they go under for just a minute ie a tiny amount of G&A.

It really is over so quickly. Honestly. Ok DS was younger at 4mo when he had it done - but drs said are you sure you want to do this etc at this age- but I wanted to keep bfing (actually it was too late by then, might have helped if diagnosed sooner) and also I thought (even though there is no definitive evidence of it affecting speech in future)that it was best not to gamble with the speech element. They also discovered much more TT than they originally thought during the procedure...
