What does DS, DC etc stand for??

I know it stands for your children, first born, second, husband etc. but why the D and S? Etc. what does it stand for? For example, OPI assume stands for other poster? It seems like everyone else n here knows but me!

There is an acronym list somewhere but the D stands for either darling or dear. Will find the list (or someone else will :))
