Hiya...
This is probably the wrong place to put this but why is there so many references to sausage rolls? Am I missing something?

Because some people think sausage rolls are the food of the devil and shoving one in your child's mouth (worst of all, shoving one in thier mouth while they are in their buggy...you have to take their dummy out first, obviously, and take away their Fruit Shoot so it doesn't get covered in flaky pastry) is akin to strapping them to your 4x4's bull bars and driving to school to park on the zig zag lines while blindfolded.

chavtastic answer there from moo

Because posh people use slings and you cant give a toddler a sausage roll in a sling as it will crumble in your cleavage.
Therefore sausage rolls, especially in a buggy is beneath them.

The sausage roll thing crept up on me, too. Is there an Original Sausage Roll Thread?

FrannyandZooey · 01/08/2006 18:49

It's a joke, quootie. Nobody actually thinks they are the food of the devil. It's just a shorthand joke about "slack parenting" and the supposed sanctimonious uber mums who disapprove of them.

Greensleeves · 01/08/2006 18:50

ROFL charliecat

you underestimate the hours of fun picking warm flaky pastry out of your bra when you think no-one's looking

WaitingForGodKnows · 01/08/2006 18:51

Licking surely much more fun, greeny?

Greensleeves · 01/08/2006 18:52

God, you must have a tongue like a gecko

WaitingForGodKnows · 01/08/2006 18:53

Yep, actually have just grossed myself out there...

charliecat · 01/08/2006 18:53

Once...I found a goblet of chewing gum in my large cleavage

quootiepie · 01/08/2006 18:55

A goblet of chewing gum?

Sorry....pedant, I know....but it was an unusually amusing spoonerism charliecat

FrannyandZooey · 01/08/2006 19:01

If we are going to be pedantic that was a malapropism not a spoonerism Greeny

But I make lovely sausage rolls at Xmas. Much in demand

Greensleeves · 01/08/2006 19:03

Oh, fuck off Franny

Twiglett · 01/08/2006 19:04

um I don't think the have a 4x4 but don't use dummies argument stacks up incredibly well .. especially not on mumsnet

foxinsocks · 01/08/2006 19:06

I made a giant sausage roll today

marthamoo · 01/08/2006 19:06

(If you make your own sausage rolls with Nigella's recipe, use farm reared organic pork, and call them pigs in blankets though, that's fine. It's all a question of degree).

iota · 01/08/2006 19:07

I thought that it was only Greggs sausage rolls that were unacceptable

quootiepie · 01/08/2006 19:07

aaaaaaaaaaaah, but i use the 4x4 to tow the horse trailer.

OP posts:
bundle · 01/08/2006 19:09

iota, all sausage rolls have been tarred by the greggs brush, iykwim

Iklboo · 01/08/2006 19:10

Oh - so Iceland frozen "I can't believe it's not trotters" sausage meat & Jus-Roll puff pastry doesn't count as "gour-may" then??

Bugger!

iota · 01/08/2006 19:10

was that a pastry brush, bundle?

ja9 · 01/08/2006 19:31
