Kids superheroes too sexy?

Hello,

I wanted your opinion, most kids (including mine) are into superheroes from Batman, Superman to X-Men and now there are lots of sci-fi and anime conventions in the UK where you can get merchandise. At these events members of the public are also dressed up as the fave superheroes/villains fictional characters. This hobby is called cosplay and is getting rather popular! Which is great, as kids love seeing these characters come to life and getting pics with their favourite characters and people in cool costumes etc.

BUT are some of these characters not suitable for such events which are aimed at all ages and claim to be family friendly? As you know some of the comic and gaming female character wear very little/sexy clothes. Some of these 'cosplayers' and even made innocent characters such as the Disney Princesses sexy (corsets, stockings etc). Should there be restrictions? Would you complain if you saw something like that this at an event you took your children? Do you want your children exposed to stuff like this?

OR, would you be fine, knowing that this is what comics/movies and games are like and that it is just a costume, women/men can wear what they want etc. Would really like your thoughts, about this as it is a tough one.

I think that is a trope of cosplay, which is long established, and if you choose to bring your children into that, you should be aware that that is what they will see.

They are NOT 'kids superheroes' either. You have to remember that. This is long established as a adolescent-to-adult scene.

Restrictions?
No. Choose what you want your children to see and be involved in and set rules for them. Don't censor others because you think a corset is over-sexy.
