Exhausted with a toddler...

My 2 yo DD woke me quite early this morning (despite early-ish night last night still could have done with a couple of extra hours in bed...Sad) so am very tired and grumpy. I've been quite snappy with her this afternoon. She has been in one of her clingy moods today where she "needs" me to watch her play, lead me around the house, climbing on top of me, jumping on me etc. I couldn't be less in the mood today... I know I'm just tired and that if I get some rest I should be a lot better but days like this I just get so frustrated and irritable. I'm a single mum too, and her dad has her occasionally in the evenings but I don't have anyone else who can take her so that I can have a rest.

I just wanted to have a vent.

Hi, I have a 3 yo DD who does this from time to time - usually when I just need her not to! Sorry you've had a bad day - it's really hard when they seem to just need you so much and you can't see any breaks coming up. Is there anywhere you can take her to so that she can play and get rid of some energy or be distracted so you can just sit? Not as good as a proper rest i know, but better than nothing. Weather is rubbish at the moment, so maybe somewhere indoors like a soft play place? Or a friend so that she can play with another child? I guess, at the least, plan something nice for yourself for when she's in bed tonight - even if it's just a bubble bath and glass of wine. Sending hugs xx

Vent away Smile It's hard work at that age, but as she gets a bit older she'll be able to play more independently. Will she watch TV or a film for a bit to give you a break?

I hope you have a better night tonight and feel rested tomorrow Thanks
