Has anyone used either of these as a nightlight for a child? The reviews seem to say that they are either brilliant or they stop working after ten minutes!?

Can't comment on those, but we have a similar one from asda which is only £3. It's on our landing and has been working for over a year very well.

Sorry link doesn't work properly, but it's the LED night light.

Ooh, thank you; that one looks good. How bright is it?

Light enough to safely walk around the landing and see to get down the stairs.

TBH I'd find it too bright for in a child's room, but I like them in the dark. It's fairly standardly bright for these type of lights. In the room I have one of these from John Lewis. It's a nice orange soft glow but only just enough light to not bump into furniture. Certainly not enough if it's a toddler wanting a light to take away the scary dark, nor enough to feed baby.

Hope that helps.
