DD 17 mo was a bit under the weather tail end of last week. Temperature at nursery on Thurs, a little sick in the night (mainly from coughing). Fri kept her home and she seemed 'OK' except clingy, tired and itchy (she has eczema so didn't think much of it). Slept through on Fri and seemed better yesterday except last night she was up again in the night coughing and when I went to see her noticed one cheek is bright red - blotchy looking and not like teething. She was up 2am till gone 5am (argh!) but is luckily still asleep. She never does that, either up in the night for so long or sleeping this late.

Sorry for the ramble - what do I do? Docs, no docs?

It is mostly self limiting and once the rash is out on the mend and not contagious. Can seem nasty like flu (ds was quite unwell at 8 months with it) but treatment is only symptomatic , ie calpol, water etc Be prepared for the rash to come and go over a period of weeks though.

..... I'd also add for her to stay away from pregnant people too. Can be dangerous for the baby.

Thing is it may be slapped cheek, it may not. DD has had a very bright red cheek recently, turns out she has a really bad ear infection.

So if she's no better tomorrow, with temp or in pain, or cough worse, I'd go to the gp and get a diagnosis.

Hope she's better soon.
