As much as they want?

300mls would give the required 350mg of calcium for that age. They dont have to have it all in drink form as other dairy, milk in foods/cereal, etc count towards that too.

I give my 16 month old milk in the morning, before bed and whenever he gets his cup out of the cupboard and starts shouting 'Mama, MIILLKKKKKK'

There is no recommended amount - so yep, as much as they want as long as it's not interfering with consumption of other foods!

there is a recomnended amount of 300mls and to try not to exceed a pint as it can then put them off solid foods

DD is the same age and has about 200ml of cows milk in the morning and the same before bed. Plus water, a mid morning and mid afternoon snack and three meals a day which usually includes porridge and a yoghurt.

jumperooo · 24/01/2014 14:48

She likes milk, if we offered her a third drink of milk in a day she would have it, on top of her meals

There is no thumb of rule in this regard and it can’t be said exactly how much milk they should be given. It depends on their requirement. However at this stage , you can give them 2 bottles a day of 150ml. apart from porridge, soup, pulses and other eatables.
