for all you disposable nappy users out there.
Which has the better newborn nappy?
Huggies or pampers?
And what size should i buy, and how many in that size for my LO.
I am thinking of buying some from costco.
Thanks

Pampers, although there's not much in it. Personally, I'd get whatever you can get a better deal on! And check the price, because even in Costco, it might be cheaper to go and get Tescos own, which are fine (not the value ones). If its easy to pop back, then just get 2 small packs size one and the same of size two, as you never know how fast they'll grow. We found with both boys that although they fitted in size one, the wee kept leaking out, and was cured by using size twos.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 29/07/2006 13:44

i prefer tescos own to any branded nappy.

im buying 4+'s now and its £6.97 for 58 nappies.... great for me as i have 2 in nappies and they wear the same size during the day! We use sainsburys own size 5's for jess at night as she needs that extra absorbancy.

Lemmingswife · 29/07/2006 13:44

I always prefered pampers to huggies, infact I wasn't impressed with huggies at all! I found they leaked more & that their big velcro tabs would cut into my DS when used overnight.
I wouldn't get too many packs of first size nappies, as they only go up to 9lbs.

I'd echo that. The only trouble with Tescos is that they dont have the size printed on each nappy, so its easy to get mixed up if there's 2 in nappies, esp if similar sizes.

ezridax · 29/07/2006 13:51

Thanks for your quick responses, i'll check out the price in costco and compare before comitting.
Tesco's seem to be popular, although it also seems to depend on the child as to what suits them.
I never thought i'd be researching nappies lol!
thanks again

Definitely Pampers. I always liked the shape/look of huggies but absorbency not nearly as good nor the comfort I don't think.
Didn't get on with own brands I'm afraid found them far more inferior

Lemmingswife · 29/07/2006 13:55

When they got a bit bigger, I used pampers active fit, as they have very stretchy sides to ensure you get the fit right & they were nice & soft. I found pampers baby dry a bit plasticy.

waterfalls · 29/07/2006 13:58

I think pampers are a better fit and not so bulky, however with all my LO, they seem to smell terrible after 1 wee, and I dont find them as absorbant as Huggies. I agree Tesco own brand (purple packet) are as good as any leading brand, I used to use them but can no longer get to Tesco.

shinypeople · 29/07/2006 17:52

Pampers are far, far better than huggies

I too get my nappies from costco....they do their own nappies now. They are the worst nappy i have ever used though and leak through the front (on my ds) after just 1 wee

horsemadgal · 29/07/2006 19:07

I always thought it was Huggies for a boy and Pampers for a girl. Maybe not by reading here.
I prefer Huggies for DS. Pampers always leaked for us.
I only use them part time along with cloth and I just buy whatever's on offer.
Costco do £6 off coupons on Huggies every now and then, works out a fab deal.
I also like their own nappies (Kirkland), worked for us.
And I also like Lidl's, on offer at the mo.
Try to only buy them when 10p or less per nappy!!

I did a trial for Huggies, i had to quit half way through they leaked everywhere!

I dont find pampers that good either though, i get Tesco super fit or Asda everytime cheaper and better.

Rav · 30/07/2006 22:52

After having just changed my dd's Pampers 'baby-dry'(NOT)nappy at this late hour (she sleeps 7.30 - 7.30pm)going to stick to Pampers Active Fit. Only bought them today as they were on offer, never had to change her when she was in bed before. However, I will buy a pack of Tesco's Superfit as this is not the first time I've heard good reports.

thenel · 30/07/2006 22:55

U cant beat tescos super fit nappys rav. I go through a big bag and a half of tesco super fit a week. so now i get two big bags.. cheaper and easier.. not had any probs with them.. they are just great for dd3 and ds1(2) (twins) and ds2(15month) Tesco Super Fit all the way!

Rav · 30/07/2006 23:03

Thenel - definitely going to buy Tesco's. My DH will be so impresssed!

hulababy · 31/07/2006 22:13

I always prefered Pampers for DD, and SIL is finding same for her little girl now. I never got on witht he Active Fit though.

However friends who had boys always seemed to prefer Huggies.
