...with your children, when they are at home, ie weekends, after school, school holidays etc?

Are you a mum that sits making crafts etc all the time? I'm not and I'm feeling a bit guilty about it. I tend to let them play alone, but do interact with them Hmm

My boy is only 7 weeks so I've no children of school age.

However, I am one of three and when we were younger we often amused ourselves, please don't get me wrong our parents spent time with us particularly on holiday or days out but day to day they worked shifts plus ran the house.

We never felt bored or that we missed out. Some of our best memories are of the games we played together (hours with lego/bored games etc).

I'm sure if your children are playing happily they are fine. Plus I personally think it's good to let children amuse themselves sometimes x

I don't do much craft wise, we go to soft play, swimming, toddler groups and the park I play with DS then when we are home we watch dvds snuggled up or he plays while I do chores if he doesn't want to play alone he helps me tidy up or cook. We do sometimes do jigsaws lego and books or baking when i'm not busy but tbh he's happier pottering around, home is for chilling out we go out for activities.

I'm with Pumpkin on this - my Mum just didn't have the time or money to entertain us during the holidays so we used to occupy ourselves. It's important for kids to be able to develop imaginations - I know some who literally have no idea what to do with themselves unless their activity is being 'directed' for them.
Even with my 9mo - in between playing with him I let him spend as much time as he's happy to just figuring things out for himself.
