Establishing a routine

What age did you start trying to establish a routine for your baby? I know babies don't generally stick to a routine of course but thought that at some point I should attempt a vague routine. What sort of routine do you have?

Never had any routine. Children very flexible.

I tried at about 6/7 weeks but she wasn't keen! I think it was about 12 weeks when a routine started to vaguely work and probably 4/5 months when I could say there was definitely a routine.

probably about 10 weeks.. but the only thing that we really did was to feed before he demanded. cut down on crying massively!!!

Day 1 for bedtime routine. The rest just flowed from there in time.

I'm totally A-type so wanted a routine asap mainly because my head was going giddy with the not knowing which way was up half the time

It started with doing 2 hourly feeds at a month, then three hourly as time passed. I also started to encourage naps at certain times (but was very lucky that DD rarely resisted sleep).

Her proper nighttime routine started about 2 months and she'd have a bath, then a feed, then swaddled and popped into the bassinet with us in the living room. This progressed to her being put down in her cot at 7 months (minus the swaddling...)

I think I'll try bath, bottle, sleep at the late evening feed so around 10pm, that way we can both go to sleep in a dark, quiet room. At the moment he's sleeping in his moses basket in the living room while we have the lights and TV on but I want him to get used to sleeping at night because he's pretty nocturnal right now!
