How often does your 13mo poo?

Just that really - my DS goes minimum of 4 times a day and once or twice of these is during the night. Is this normal?

My DS also normally poos 3 times per day. 4 is not unheard of.

Over xmas when he was teething he was doing 6 a day (loose). What joy!

He eats well, and has a stable weight on the 75th centile so I am not worried about it....just think he is a big poo-er! None of them are at night though.

Does your DS eat lots of fruit? You could try cutting fruit down, especially pears, dried fruit, prunes etc for a few days and see if that makes a difference? Bananas are the exception: they can help bind things up a bit I think!

If you're worried though, you could talk to your GP

My ds poos once a day, very occasionally twice. He eats tons of fruit, I don't know why he only poos once a day.

Thanks Bot, that's what I thought initially last October - teething but after a month of it and no sign of new teeth we did go to the drs and he suggested we try lactose free for a couple of months - it cleared up the looseness but not the frequency! He's not lost weight either so maybe we have couple of big poo-ers on our hands!

He has been unwell this last week and fruit is the only thing he'll eat with gusto at the moment but mainly strawberries, grapes, oranges and bananas not any of the ones you've listed.

Before he was unwell, he wasn't eating loads of fruit maybe a few bites after dinner and a few bites as a snack

Once a day and he practically lives off fruit.

DS is 15mo this week and usually goes twice a day but can sometimes be up to 4.

PurplePidjin · 10/01/2014 07:37

2-3 times a day; first thing in the morning then once or twice during the day. I've actually cut down his fruit and it's stopped the night time ones! Now he has a banana at breakfast, a pear or satsuma at lunch and 1-2 portions of veg at both lunch and dinner. His sleep is much improved

Mine both poo 3-4 times a day. Often at the same time. Usually when we're about to go out or when I'm trying to cook. And you can guarantee that it'll be in the nappy that I've just put on - never in the nappy they've been wearing for an hour or two. It sometimes feels like I do nothing but change pooey nappies.

MB34 · 10/01/2014 10:33

Thanks for all your replies. Does sound like it's a bit normal then (maybe not so much the night time pooling) so I'll see how it goes.

mum it does feel like that - some days it's a poo per nappy and in a clean one at that!

QT last Oct/Nov it was runny and mucous-y so dr said to cut out dairy which we've done - it's resolved the looseness but not the frequency. Thinking of re-introducing a bit of cows milk next week and see how we go.

Once a day. Sometimes only once every other day.

Some babies seriously poo 4 times a day?!

MB34 · 11/01/2014 10:17

I know purple! I didn't think it was possible either until my DS was doing it - I don't know where it all comes from sometimes!
