When did you have your first af after giving birth?
My DS is 10wk on Sunday and I still haven't had my af, just wondered when other women had theirs.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Wow, that's the first time I've ever heard that used. I don't have periods because I use the mini-pill.

mumofboyo · 09/01/2014 19:29

5 months after dc1. I took the MAP due to an accident and my period returned the week after. Not sure if that's a coincidence.

4 months after dc2 but they have been irregular since.

DS is 14 months and I haven't had a period yet. Still breastfeeding a few times a day and night.

Mine came back 15 months after DS was born, I was breast feeding though.

MaMaPo · 09/01/2014 20:09

Just got my first - 13 months and breastfeedibg 1-2 times per day.

blackteaplease · 09/01/2014 20:10

Are you breastfeeding? That will delay the return of your period. My periods started when dd was 8 months as i had a night away. Ds is 16months and still breastfed day and night, no sign of any period yet.

lockie1983 · 09/01/2014 20:11

Are you breast feeding? It was around the ten week mark I think for me. I went back on my contraception then and it took about three month to be normal (no spotting randomly between periods).

mrsbug · 09/01/2014 20:13

12 months. This is normal if you are breastfeeding.

SquidgersMummy · 09/01/2014 20:23

17mths and still no sign Smile - breastfeeding at bedtime and during the night.

Junebugjr · 09/01/2014 20:25

About 4 weeks after - bottlefeeding
Near 1 year- bf tho.

PostmanPatAlwaysRingsTwice · 09/01/2014 20:26

Ten weeks is hardly any time at all. It is usual for it to take months and months for periods to return when you are breastfeeding.

paleandinteresting · 09/01/2014 20:28

No birth control here, just the breastfeeding!

Mine returned 18 months after the birth, while I was still breastfeeding. I don't think there was any change in the breastfeeding pattern to trigger it and I was still feeding many times overnight.

It was completely normal for me when it came: same duration, flow, everything normal.

I wasn't using any contraception at the time.

PrincessChick · 09/01/2014 22:58

Mine are back but light. First one arrived the day before DD turned 6mo. Next one due soon. DD is breastfed but started solids at 22 weeks. She's a big baby and has lots of milk, so
I was hoping that would keep periods at bay sigh!

purple84 · 10/01/2014 10:01

Yes I am breastfeeding, had no idea we would get a lovely period free time after birth, thanks for replies ladies.
I will just enjoy now I know it's normal :)

With DS it was about 9 months but he was a slow long feeder.

DD just gets on with it and So her feeds are far shorter and so AF returned at four months Sad

rrreow · 10/01/2014 12:45

Are you breastfeeding? After DS1 I didn't get my period until he stopped breastfeeding around 14mo. After DS2 I went on the mini-pill so not getting periods.
