Is it possible for a child of 3 to be able to write/draw with both hands?

As the title says really ds2 seems to b able to use both hands he started off favouring the left then the right and is now using his left again. Ds1 has only every used his right hand. Is it normal for him to have not made his mind up and my older ds was just unusual? Obv he's only writing his name atm but if I compare the two I'd say the left could b ever so slightly neater?

I think this is common at this age. DD certainly did it but eventually started to favour her right hand for writing at about 5. She still does some things with the left though such as knife holding.

DS1 does this - his teachers recently commented that he still swaps hands when writing.

Oh and DD is good at kicking a ball with her left leg too, bloody good aim. I do have ambidextrous people in my family though.

Yes very common & very normal in pre-school children. As they get older it becomes less common, almost as if they have tried both and settled mostly on left or right.

Thank u I hadn't realised it was normal at that age I am making sure no one encourages the right hand and let's him chose for himself. Interestingly I'm right handed but eat with knife in my left and fork in right and just can not do it the other way round.

My kids did it too Smile . My husband is right handed but plays all sports that involve a bat as if he were left handed - I'm using the words plays & all very loosely Smile . I mean he holds and bats/swings left handedly.
