Biproducts of teething??

My dd is 12.5 weeks old and has been teething for 3 weeks Sad Teething gel doesn't seem to help much. I'm off to get some Nelson's teething powders

This week she's been suffering with constipation - quality of nappy is fine but it's an awful struggle for her to get it out. Fits of screaming and writhing to do so. Is this because she's teething or is it a separate problem? Could the Calgel be making her constipated?

She's also not sleeping much because of it so is overtired and ratty a lot when she's in pain. When she's not in pain she's happy as Larry and her usual self, so we've given her a couple of doses of Calpol in the last day or so I've noticed she's more clingy than normal and wants to be held a lot more.

Last night she wouldn't settle in Moses basket so I was sit-up up with her til 5:-5am when my DH took over instead as it was the only way she'd sleep!

She's not quite mastered holding a teething ring in place and keeps poking herself in the eye with it. We got the TT soother dummy for 3m+ but it's still a bit big for her and makes her gag.

What else can I do for her? What other symptoms can I expect her to experience with teething?

TIA Smile

Ibuprofen is much better than paracetamol for teething pain but obviously short term only.

What you're describing, the constipation and pain, doesn't really fit with teething. I'd pop to the docs to rule out anything else if brufen doesn't work.

Thank you! I've got some Calprofen so I'll give that a try tomorrow. If she's not improved ill book her a doctors appt.

Hops my little girl feels better soon Sad

Not that common to teeth at 9wks old - what are the other symptoms? Rosy cheeks, dribbling, chewing fists/fingers etc....

The constipation doesn't sound right. Usually the the extra saliva in the system means they get runny output. I'd try ibuprofen & take a trip to the gp to rule anything else out.

Also noël sons didn't o anything for ds. The Ashton's ones from the cooperative pharmacies are meant to be the best. I think you can order them online.

A wet flannel from the freezer worked better for DD as she was tiny when she started teething. The commercial teethers were huge. We also kept a teaspoon in the fridge so she could gum it.

Try Anbesol liquid too, miles better than calgel etc for teething pain. They can't just suck it off their gums either.

I also found ashtons powder good.

Poor dear. I used teething mitts on my lo because he too started to teeth before able to handle a teething ring
