this is our eve routine

5pm dinner
5.30 quiet play
5.45 bath and then 8oz bottle before going in cot

would like to fit in milk elsewhere in a beaker but not sure how to do it?

can't your baby just have a beaker instead of a bottle at the same time? Or do you not want her to have a drink close to bed?

My DD is almost 14 months. She has her bath at 6pm, and then her milk in a tommee tippee beaker, so 6oz or so, at 6.15 while we read her a book and/or watch a few minutes of In The Night Garden.

How about just making it before the bath? Then you can do bath, teeth brush, stories in bed.

If it works for you and the baby, do you need to change it? As brightonmummy says, you could give the milk in a beaker rather than a bottle, but at the same time. And you could gradually cut down the amount too, if you wanted to.

Fwiw, as far as I remember, all three of mine had milk last thing before bed when they were little, and we kept it up until they dropped it themselves (basically by not finishing/refusing it, if I recall correctly). However, the youngest is 16, and I am afraid I can't remember how old they were when they dropped that last-thing drink of milk.

I swapped bath/pj time with milk time so

5pm tea then play

6.45 milk in cup in kitchen

Then upstairs to bed,bath/pjs then teeth and story

7.30 in cot, lights out, door closed.

thanks all - he doesnt seem to drink as much when in a beaker and would like to brush teeth properly b4 bed. I think im concerned about fitting in dinner, milk, bath and bed between the hours of 5 to 6pm ( he likes an early bedtime).

Dd now 3yrs and we have been doing this routine since she was about 12month.

5pm or 5.30pm - tea
6pm - bath
6.30pm - 1 story with milk in a beaker, then clean teeth then 1 more story.
7pm - bed

She still wants milk before bed but I want to clean her teeth after milk. We have been reducing the amount of milk gradually so she only has about 1 oz now but she still like it!
