Is there any point in using a potty early on?

Apologies in advance for the lovely subject matter Grin I'm a bit clueless about this stuff...

My DS is 10 months old and poos like clockwork after either lunch or dinner each day. He does a very recognisable Poo Face when the deed is about to occur. Because he's so predictable, my mum suggested we start putting him on the potty to get him used to it.

Is there any advantage to doing this? Will it make potty training easier down the line? Or should I just leave him to get on with it in his nappy?

Not sure but I sat both of mine on it while running there baths every night from when they could sit safely on it.
Not sure if it helped with potty training though was just convenient to not have to clean wee from the floor.

Mine has gone on the potty first thing in the morning since 16 months. She always always pees within 5 mins of getting up and seemed like a good way not to soak through a nappy.

Now at 23 months we do potty before bath as well to minimize risk of bath time poo...

If its easy to do then why not? Potties are fairly cheap (99p store do small ones). We had a few potties around the house to get ds used to them from an early age but didn't actually potty train until nearly 3.

Thanks everyone! Seems like it's not a completely daft idea then, and I may as well give it a try Smile

Saves time dealing with squashed pooey nappies. I think it helps with toilet training too.

My dd (8 months) uses the potty around 3 times a day.. She very rarely poo's in her nappy now, she much prefers to go in the potty.

I second the 99p shop ones, we have three they are brilliant!

Thanks both! Will locate the nearest 99p store and get started...
