New Mum with broken arm

My DW broke her arm badly a few weeks before giving birth to our lovely DS. I've been lucky enough to be off work on paternity leave and holiday until the 6th January (Took a month off in total). I'm worried about DW and her coping when I go back (She's in tears and is very stressful about me leaving her alone). She's very capable, but is in a lot of pain from said arm making changes etc very hard. Her parents are undergoing radiotherapy so can't take a hands on approach. We don't have many friends around here. Any suggestions on possible help would be wonderful.

Congratulations. Your poor wife... Do you have room for an au pair? Can you afford a nanny if not? Could you put an advert up in a local newsagent for a neighbour to offer support at various intervals throughout the day? Have you asked your health visitor?

I would suggest a temp nanny if you can. You can get someone for any length of time from a day- weeks- months. Maybe someone for 2 weeks then see how she is then

Can you make her some breakfast and lunch ( leave in fridge), before leaving for work. Also change baby, and wipe over in am and clean babygro for the day. Then you help bath in the eve when needed.

Get her to invite friends over or does she have a baby sling she can use with one arm so she can get out with baby? Many will work like this, don't get a babybjorn as not good for your back. Something like manduca/ beco/ boba

Do you have a sure start children's centre in your area? Ask about their home start service they should be more than happy to help. Congratulations on new baby x
