Hiccups in tiny baby

DS gets hiccups very often, even if we burp him after his feeds. Is this normal for newborn babies? He's 10 days old and was born early. They tend to make him jump and wake him up!

My little one had them constantly. It confused the hell out of the dog who couldn't understand why the little creature in the blanket was doing dog squeaky toy impressions.

Of course it's normal... He hasn't been using his insides properly for long Grin

Totally normally. DD2 has them every now and then and she isn't due to be born for another month! Smile

Yes it's pretty normal - if your bottle feeding you can try warming the bottle to help reduce wind.

Yep, DS even had them in the womb! Now that was a weird sensation Grin

My DD also has them in the womb AMIS (hope its ok to shorten!)-very odd sensation and also at the worst time-esp when trying to get to sleep which was hard enough. She is now 11 months old and still get them a couple of times a month. Its all totally normal Grin

my DD had hiccups a lot when I was pregnant (very strange sensation - i could see my tummy move with every hic too) and it continued after she was born. She'd sometimes get them really bad and more than once in a day. She's 15 weeks now and the hiccups have settled down, don't get me wrong, she still gets them just not as frequently.

My baby hiccuped alot in the womb like 50 times, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. Everyone said it was normal but we then discovered she had silent reflux, and once she was on medication, the hiccups went away

IndigoTea · 31/12/2013 22:53

^^ in the womb and outside it

Both mine had hiccups in the womb daily. DS every evening, without fail, when I was stuck in traffic returning from work. After birth it was still a fairly regular occurrence for the first few months. DD (3.5) still gets them a lot. Really nothing to worry about
