15 Day Old Won't Settle

Hi - first time mummy here. My 15 day old DS just won't settle. For the first 10 or so days of his life he was so content and barely cried. He was easy to sooth - change his wet nappy or let him feed (breast feeding on demand) and he was fine. Over the past few days he has been awake more but still able to sooth him. However, yesterday he just wouldn't settle - awake much more but crying loads. No wet nappy and feels like he has been feeding constantly since about 1:30am last night! Tried giving him a dummy, rocking him, etc - just nothing seems to be working. He does't feel hot or cold. So if he's the alright temperature, not hungry and not wet - what else could it be?

(Of course as I put him down to write this he is sitting wonderfully in his bouncer - awake but not crying!)

I'm just nervous as we are meant to be going over to FIL's house with 2 sets of grandparents plus step siblings and various other relations. I'm just nervous he is going to cry non stop. Any tips/advice would be much appreciated!

Probably a growth spurt . They have so many in the 1st 6-12 months x

Agree with growth spurt!

Hang in there, it will get better....then worse again..... Then better etc etc

Congratulations btw

Do you have a sling? If not just keep holding feeding as and when, and let him sleep on you for comfort if in unfamiliar surroundings. This age soon passes!

Keep feeding, switch sides every time he comes off. Hopefully just a short lived growth spurt - babies have great timing!

Thanks everyone. I thought maybe growth spurt!

Merry Christmas to everyone who is still reading threads! Grin

babies tend to wake up after the first two weeks...they dont sleep as easily, wake up more and cry...6-8 weeks is the peak and it usually gets better from there.

Congratulations!

It sounds like a growth spurt and he wants more milk/more frequent feeding. He is still very very young so go with it and keep feeding on demand, that's what I did with my two at that age. With DD1 sometimes she would have a few days of constant feeding and she w clamped ro my boob all day.

Keep going and well done. Don't get nervous about him crying lots around people, babies just do cry (mine were so loud!).
