we are both working and our routine in the evening is soooo stressful - changing, dinner, a bit of TV, bath time, reading time, tidying up kitchen, planning for next day: preparing uniform, doing washing..
please how do you run your evenings at home? how to make them more relaxed? thank you!

"changing, dinner, a bit of TV, bath time, reading time, tidying up kitchen, planning for next day: preparing uniform, doing washing.."

What changing? I would leave in school clothes
Bath every other night
Get eldest to learn laying out school clothes as after all same each day

Can you move bedtime back by 30 mins so not so rushed

We get in from nursery/ after school club pick up. (5.30) DDs have a snack (they both have proper meal at lunch time). DD2 goes and has a bath then goes to bed. It is 6pm.

Do reading with dd1, put telly on for half an hour. DH puts her to bed at 7-ish while I cook dinner for us. (She usually prefers showers in the morning).

So in summary I try less hard and my daughters go to bed early!

In terms of uniform I have enough for a week which helps me. I may stick on load of washing during dinner and hang up while dh tidies the kitchen. Slow cooker meals are also good because the kitchen gets less bombed.

4 pm dd1 comes from school and changes, dinner then with dd2. Then playing, reading , tv at 6.20 till 7.00 during which kids have fruit salad. Then bath and go to bed 8.00 I start preparing next day things between 7 and 8. Would you leave dd1 in uniform till 7? I could try and see

Mine stay n uniform until bedtime.
Bathe every other night.
What "other things" are you prepping.

I have a DS of 5 and one of 3.
We get in about 5.30, they watch tv while I make dinner which is served 6.25 ish when DP gets in. I tidy up and make the lunches while DP either baths them or they potter with him. DS2 is put to bed at 7, the other one at 8. I don't get off my arse unless it's to have a bath after that. We do reading with DS1 between 7 and 8.
