Crazy Bed idea?!

My daughter is nearly 2 and a half and still in her cot. I want to get her a bed in the new year. I was thinking of getting a mid sleeper. These have dens and space underneath but are not as high as a cabin bed. I would of course but a bed rail / bed guard off to stop her falling out but is it too dangerous? A lot of my friends have recently moved their toddlers into beds and none of them seem to have fallen out.

Always take a laid back approach to parenting so please say if this is irresponsible and dangerous!!

It's not the rolling and falling out which would bother me, more the trying to climb in and out at bedtime and morning.

It has a slide!

Possibly still a bit little for the climbing up and down - especially when doing night time potty training!

But I may have the perfect solution for you - the Ikea Kura (sp?) bed. It turns upside down, so starts off as a low bed then literally turns upside down to be a midsleeper. We have one for our 6 year old in the high position, and one for the 4 year old in the low position. Normal single sized bed.

Mine went into beds like that at her age and never had an incident. But I taught them how to get in and out safely. The main problem I had were other kids who had been allowed to stand/ jump on beds thinking it was okay.
