How do I help my overweight DD?

My DD is 14 years old. She's really active but loves eating (too much, like me..:-() She's getting fatter and I'm worried that she'll keep getting fatter inspite of all the exercise she does. What can I say/do without giving her a complex? She's also a big carb fan and isn't keen on meat or veg!

Reduce her portion sizes gradually, serve on smaller plates and don't buy in junk. She won't notice the portion size thing and you can keep healthy snacks in for her. Don't mention her weight, but emphasise on being healthy, whilst doing all the above for yourself at the same time. No need for diets.

What kind of meat does she like?

Also don't have crap in the house.

Cut out sugar from your home.

As for not being keen on meat and veg, that is ridiculous at her age. I mean, fine, don't eat meat or fish if you are a vegetarian, but otherwise, huh??

I don't know what you eat yourself, but I think that if you are also not that keen on veg, her idea of what's normal will be affected by that.
