Milk only for under the weather 14 month old?

DS has been sick about 4 times overnight. No sickness since the early houra, but he is off his food-has eaten a few things today, but no where near his normal portion size). He is happy to drink milk though, so I'm planning on giving him more of this during the day. Will this be enough to make sure he isn't hungry? It's so hard when they can't tell you how they are feeling Sad

As long as he's keeping it down, I'd just give him what he wants for today. My 6yo was ill recently and seemed to survive on crisps and milk for 2 days Xmas Smile

Thanks Bunny. It's the first time he has been properly sick, so it's unknown territory for us Smile

He'll let you know if he wants more. :)

Not sure about milk, the Red Cross app says only give milk if breastfed in cases of D&V

wibblychristmasjelly · 16/12/2013 13:48

Does it say why endor? I should have said I am also giving him water as well to rehydrate him.

That advice has changed, Witch. The advice is now give what the child fancies.

My 16mth old had norovirus last week and just had breast milk for about 4 days. The gp said it was fine as it was keeping her hydrated. She was still sick but the GP said it only takes the stomach a few mins to absorb liquid so less will be coming up than is going in. Calpol also helped the tummy pains. It's horrible isn't it erm just to warn you 24hrs after she started we were hugging the toilet bowl too...starving yourself for 24hrs works well X

Hope he doesn't start again!

I'm happy to be corrected MadLizzy, though it was current as the app was only downloaded a couple of weeks ago!

DS has d&v just now and couldn't keep anything but breastmilk down for the first two days.

Mabelface · 16/12/2013 15:45

Poor pickle. D&V is miserable. Hope all these little ones get better soon.

wibblychristmasjelly · 17/12/2013 21:25

DS is much better today, and has his appetite back Grin
