Ds woke up tonight and his clothes were wet so I changed him in the (nearly) dark. All ok til I put his mitts back on and he started crying, wasn't sure why at first til I checked his hands and his first finger was bent back Sad I checked it and once it was straight again he was fine and ive just checked it again to see if he cries when I press it gently but hes fast asleep so obviously its fine.
Just wide awake now as feel so awful and he really did cry... hes only 5 months too Sad

Last night while taking ds upstairs to bed I banged his head twice once in the wall and a second time on his door frame!
I'm not sure how I managed to do I've been carrying him upstairs for 6months but when he calmed down there was a small red mark and I felt like a very bad mummy.
No damage was dun obviously as he's lying on his playmat now playing away no problem.

The first time I trimmed my PFB's nails (with the specialy-purchased, expensive 'safety' clippers Hmm) I clipped off the tip of his tiny thumb. Oh, the blood! Oh, the tears! Oh, the guilt!

13 years on, he has 10 beautiful, long, slim digits, plays piano, builds K'nex rollercoasters, and trims his own nails.

And does not, of course, remember a thing about that trastic bathtime 13y ago.

"trastic" = "traumatic"

And no, Coconutty, I've never done that, either. Not in a hotel door, that is. Wink

Think I need a few biscuits with my tea to settle my nerves Wink

Dreadful parenting skills....... Tut tut...

I have never opened a cupboard door that was head height with DS1 whilst he was standing next me and caused a deep cut on his forehead creating a waterfall of blood and requiring 2 stitches. Oh no that would never happen in my house.

sisterofcaleb · 14/12/2013 07:55

Whilst my 15 month old was standing at the edge of the bath we were trying to pull off a pretty tight fitting vest which caused his head to rebound like a spring into the side of the bath once the vest came off! He has a little bruise, poor wee thing. Bless him. It did make me laugh though.

darkdays · 14/12/2013 08:12

ilove I too maimed my daughter with nail clippers, her dad does them now, i'm scarred by it.

Mamabear12 · 14/12/2013 09:52

First time I trimmed my daughters nails or nail, cut her and bleeding, screaming, guilt. Now she is 22 months and still have not cut her nails again since the first time and three months old! She has learned to tear them off herself (bless her!). And if she gets stuck on one comes to me to pull it off. I know eventually, I'll prob have to cut her nails again....hopefully it will be okay the next time I do!

MrsBennetsEldest · 14/12/2013 10:00

I have never been out in the car, pulled onto my drive, told child it's ok to take seatbelt off, pressed button to close windows, heard awful noise, turned around to find child with head out of window and being garrotted by said window. No, I have never done that. (Again)

mameulah · 14/12/2013 10:04

The first time I 'dream fed' our darling baby I forgot to put the colic ring on the bottle and didn't realise that the strange noises he was making was because the milk was pouring out of the bottle all over his face...

BeaWheesht · 14/12/2013 10:09

Just a tip if ever you are putting tights or trousers on a small child - maybe say toddler age - do not get them to put their legs in the holes whilst standin and then just sharply pull them up. It will cause them to fly upwards and forward with frightening speed and smack into the floor face first. If you do do this however, do not, whatever you do, do it on several occasions and then repeat the mistake with successive children too.

I know a terrible mother who did this, that's how I know.

fortheloveofmike · 14/12/2013 11:57

Sorry but im laughing at some of these!
Makes my finger bending seem quite mild.. ive also never punched my other ds age 5 in the face whilst trying to pull the cuff of his coat over his hand and wasnt holding tight enough.. oops

You are shockingly bad mothers, I am speed dialing social services as we speak. I have never cut the top off my sons finger when cutting his nails oh no not me. I have also never punched dd square in the nose when pulling up a stuck zip on her coat. I have also been horrified to discover a terrible mother who sent her ds to school in shoes two sizes too small for at least 6 weeks. Personally I distance myself from these terrible creatures. Xmas Grin

stickysausages · 14/12/2013 12:20
Thanks
therunnawaybride · 14/12/2013 12:36

Shocking behaviour from all of you! I have never done anything so awful.....but a friend of a friend once thought her iron had cooled down enough to put away in the cupboard and didn't notice her 12 month old pull it out so the side landed on his foot Confused ... And he definitely doesn't still have a scar Sad

GodRestTEEMerryGenTEEmen · 14/12/2013 12:54

I am shocked, shocked I tell you by all these tails of bad mothering.

I have never ever cut the top of my son's finger while trimming his nails but his dad did and now refuses to ever cut them.

I have also never ever dropped my then 3 week year old son on the floor, leading to a cracked skull and a 2 night hospital stay. Never.

fortheloveofmike · 14/12/2013 18:57

Oh my god!! Hope he was ok

Am laughing at all your poor parenting skills!

I have never let my 24 hour old baby roll off the bed, no I have not! (I cried for at least a week, she however was fine!)

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 14/12/2013 19:19

Someone I know clipped her sons ear and made it bleed when trying to trim his hair. I She now takes him to the hairdressers ....

madamginger · 14/12/2013 19:24

I have never opened the living room door and not realise that ds2 was on the other side and trap his tiny 9 month old foot under the door, in the process ripping his big toenail off, oh no not me Sad

addictedtosugar · 14/12/2013 19:35

Another one here who has never cut the top of pfb's finger when cutting nails DS2 has never had the pleasure as DH does all the child nail trimming

And me, dislocate DS2's elbow and have to take him to A&E? No, never ever. (don't grab a tantruming toddler by one arms as they strop in the middle of the high street)

starrystarryknut · 14/12/2013 19:39

Dropped mine on a concrete floor - bad nappy changing technique. Hit his head. Has just graduated from Oxbridge, so 20 years later I can start to think of forgiving myself. The road of parenting is LONG.

MrsSpencerReid · 14/12/2013 19:49

Where to start?! I have never shaved a bald patch on DS' head cos I didn't put an end on the clippers, cut his finger with nail clippers, hit his head on the floor when lying him down to change his nappy, assumed he could manage the last step because he managed the rest of the flight resulting in a nose bleed! Or eat his snot cos I didn't get a tissue fast enoughGrinGrin
