Water/Liquids for my 9 month old

Hi All,

I was just wondering/worried that my ds is not getting any water or liquids. He drinks formula and is on solids, eats well, sleeps through and is generally a very happy, easy baby, but I'm worried cause he won't drink any water or juice, is this a problem and will it affect him in anyway ? I try every day to give him water or juice but is having none of it! Hmm Any advice appreciated. Merry Xmas ! Wink

I wouldn't give a 9 month old juice!

Just keep offering water with meals, I'm sure he'll drink some eventually.

Took my DS until he was 12 months to really start drinking water so I wouldn't worry - he'll get there. I also would just offer water and not the juice, they really don't need it.

I agree, stay off the juice, keep offering water with food and between meals. Maybe let him play with the cup a bit to get him interested. DS2 had success with the nuby cups, very soft, good anti-leak valve.

Don't offer juice, formula is fine. Bear in mind that food is about 90% water anyway. You could try an open cup - many babies are happier moving straight to proper drinking.
