20 month old constant whinging

I am at my wits end. My 20 month old just will not stop whinging. And she only does it when I'm around. It is non stop. She won't play on her own if I'm there, she just whines and whinges the whole time. I actually dread weekends because of it (I work FT). I just cannot go on like this. Have ds aged 3 and one on the way and just cannot give her the constant attention. She also likes to get up v early and so by 9am on the weekend I am quite literally counting down the hours. My dh is very hands on but he doesn't get stressed cos when it's his morning to get up she is no bother at all. Please tell me this is a phase. I am going out of mind!

My 16 month old is whining/whinging a lot atm, I found this article the other day which I found quite reassuring, explains why they whine and gives some ideas of what to do about it! It's about slightly younger children than yours but may still have some relevance.

Wow MaryAnn I could have written your exact post and I very nearly did a couple of days ago.

It is so hard especially when it is only you that they do it with.

I have no advice sadly as I can't get my dd to stop but in a strange (and awful) way I am glad that I'm not alone in having a whingy child. I do hope it is just a phase as none of the points in that artical really fit our situation.
