Just that really:
DD has developed this rash (picture on my profile) today, along with a cough and snotty nose.
Should I be worrying?

Do the glass test.

PacificDogwood · 30/11/2013 17:56

The photo looks like Slapped Cheeks Disease to me - a viral illness, kids often quite feverish and miserable, may be sick, yy to cough and runny nose.

PacificDogwood · 30/11/2013 17:57

The glass test is useless IMO

Press on her cheek with your finger, when you take your finger away it should be white, which then turn pink again v quickly on release of the pressure.

It should not stay pink.

Slapped Cheek info

DS3 had this almost 1 year ago - he was utterly miserable for about 5 days, took him a good 10 days to be back to his normal self. And he had the most impressive rash on his other cheeks as well after a couple of days Grin

MummyWeatherwax · 30/11/2013 18:11

The rash does go white when you press it, so I don't think meningitis.

Slapped cheek sounds about right! That's certainly what it looks like - do I need to do anything about that?

Yes I would say Slapped Cheek. Stay away from pregnant women as it can be dangerous, otherwise I think it is just calpol and make her comfy.

Rooners · 30/11/2013 18:13

No idea but she is absolutely beautiful! Smile

How do you make such nice looking babies?

Mine are all boys potato heads.

MummyWeatherwax · 30/11/2013 18:33

Well, that's her dosed up with ibuprofen and into the bath ready for bed.
I'm glad no-one else thinks it's serious - my gut said no, but it helps to know others agree.

Rooners - not really at her best in that pic, but thank you very much Smile. I'm brown haired and brown eyed, so never imagined having a little blonde blue eyed child!

She's lush! I think her rash looks like Slapped Cheek. My eldest had it a few years ago and was identical. The symptoms fit.

Gorgeous kid (too bad about the cheeks but will fade)

MummyWeatherwax · 30/11/2013 19:09

Thanks for the support (and compliments) everyone.
She's off to sleep now, so fingers crossed for a good night.
