Is waking up at 4am and deciding between breakfast or a shower in the morning...lol ( I also have a 21 month old)

... Needing to pack the kitchen sink in your diaper bag every time you go out. Then, after you've spent an age getting yourself plus baby ready, baby decides to do an unspeakably awful leaky poop just as you are about to leave the house.

... Being utterly exhausted and wondering if you might have hallucinated that giraffe riding a motorcycle and then baby smiles at you adoringly, like you are the centre of her universe, and tiredness and everything else is forgotten. Until you start putting the clean clothes away in the fridge and food in the dishwasher.

...being pooped at. That's right, at.

Haha I've been pooped at! Explosive and like teeny yellow fire. Glad it's not just me! Ooh another one:

That one gets logged as a story for his teenage years

Finding the stamina, which you never knew you had, to stay up feeding for virtually the entire night! But so worth it for a contented baby!

...being woken 4 times a night by a bottle feeding monster and when you get up in the morning, an exhausted wreck, and peer into his crib he smiles at you and gives an excited squeal ( despite the fact you've only been sleeping 20cm away from him all night.) At that point you think, 'sleep's overrated anyway!'

It is also leaning into the crib at 4am to put his dummy in, in the hope of getting another 30 minutes sleep before he needs feeding and promptly getting kicked full whack in the nose!

Making a trifle including proper custard at 3am because you've finally managed to get your colicky refluxy baby to sleep but in a sling on your back. So you can't sit or lay down and think 'bugger it I might as well make a trifle'

...pure panic and pleasure.

Just heaven when in the middle of the night his tiny warm lips latch on to your freezing boob!!!

Also been pooped at! It takes a newborn to put the fire hydrant to shame.

Just heaven. The newborn phase is my favourite. They just eat and sleep and you can gaze at them for hours!

Loving this thread. Gave birth to my beautiful boy earlier this week and loving him so much!

I'm very tired and sore (long labour which ended with an EMCS) but he's so worth it.

I love the look on his little face when I pick him up.

Love looking at all his little features

Love seeing my DH with him

Just love everything.

Now need to figure a way to sleep at night when he does as I tend to lie there worrying/checking he's ok!

Be-fucking-wildering no matter how many books or ante-natal classes you've been to.
