So, I'm agnostic (yes - I know - sitting on the fence!), but I do really value other peoples religion and realise that I have had the opportunity to make the decision myself not to follow a particular religious view (although I was brought up in a loosely Christian household).

I have 4 and a half year old twins and I have never discussed religion with them, mainly because I haven't felt the need to. However, they started school this year and are just coming up their first nativity.

Yesterday my DS asked "Mummy, who is God?".

I didn't know how to respond! Any tips how to explain in a succinct way that doesn't imply any particular religious persuasion???

Thanks!

"Some people believe in a being/person who created the world and looks after us all. Different people believe in different Gods and it's important to respect their beliefs" i then add "we think we make our own world and its important we look after eachother"

But I'm thoroughly atheist.
