Question about Cry-it-out / Controlled Crying

Hello all

I just used the cry it out/controlled crying method this evening on my 6 .5 month old. Painful but it did work after 20 mins.

My question is do I now have to do this everytime she goes to sleep (ie daytime naps aswell) or can I just do this for her main sleep in the evening.

Thanks

which one did you use as both methods are different i.e. cry it out is where you just leave them to cry whereas controlled crying involves going in and out the room at intervals

you can just do the night time if you prefer.

I went in every five minutes to check on her...

There's a really good book you might like to read called the Good sleep Guide by Angela Henderson, advocating a method for controlled crying. It also addresses other aspects of sleep training. I'd give it a whirl.

I did it for just the night time sleeps. I wish I'd done it for day ones too now. Still, it's nice not rocking dd for over an hour three times a night. I'm beginning to feel human. Now if she would only sleep through. ...

We are lucky she sleeps through the night. The main issue is that she can't settle to sleep so we rock, sing to her. And just recently when she reached six months she has started to get harder and harder to put her to bed.
