My DS is 9 and I noticed yesterday a couple of pimples on his forehead and a small cluster of blackheads on his cheek.

He does play football 4 times a week and showers every morning and after football.

I am quite keen for him to start a good skin regime as I never did. His dad suffered from acne when he was younger too.

Is he too young and what facial wash would you recommend??

perhaps somethings gentle for his skin? acne is hereditary, so if his dad had it, most likely he will too. you might also want to look at his diet - if he eats a lot of sugar etc. certain things make people more prone to acne...its just about figure out for each individual what the trigger is. it took me years to figure it out...i developed acne in my early 20s until i figured out what foods i was eating the gave me acne and now I'm acne free 7 years.

as for facial wash, try something very gentle. harsh ingredients might make it worse. i use dermalogica cleansing gel...which is very gentle...but might be too expensive to use on a 9 year old! but it does last a long time if you use a little bit each time. cetaphil is another good option...but not sure if they sell here?

Boots essentials range might be good, they have an equivalent of Simple with no perfume etc.
