Just curious, when did your babies eye colour get set? My sons eyes are blue and he is 4 weeks. My daughter was born w dark eyes already. I'm curious if my sons eyes will stay blue. Brown eyes on my side and all blue on hubbies side..

6-12 months old for sure, but a definite blue from start for mine that stayed blue.

My ds is 11 months and his eyes have always been the same bright blue.

I had blue eyes until I was 5, then they changed to green.

dds eyes didn't settle for ages, started off blue and turned hazel. All her toddler pics have blue eyes. ds has always had brown eyes but went from solid brown like dh to more of a paler/darker mix at a similar sort of age.

Also, do bright blue eyes start out bright blue from birth or do they start out dark blue or dark grey?

Anecdotally I have Heard that bright blue stay blue and dark blue will change.

That being said, a friend of mine recently told me that she had bright blue eyes until she was around 6 months old. Her mum reckons she went to sleep one night with bright blue eyes and woke up with dark brown (she now has very dark almost black brown eyes) and it was really creepy.

DS had deep blue eyes (like mine) until about 18 months, then one day they were hazel.

My DD was born with black eyes- huge, scary black eyes. They very very slowly faded to dark blue and now are a quite deep indigo/violet. She is 3.

my son had blue then gray eyes for about a year then they turned hazel, he also had lemon yellow blonde hair and blonde eyelashes but these have turned dark and his hair is a darker blonde at 3 yrs now

Interesting how genetics work. My boy has blonde eyebrows and light eyelashes. His hair is brown now, but we think it will get lighter. My daughter takes after me...dark brown hair and darker brown eyes! He clearly takes after his dad - who is blonde w blue eyes....just curious if his eyes will stay this way...I guess time will tell.

My DS had blue eyes they changed when he was 13 months. It was gradual though.

BerryPie · 26/11/2013 17:42

My DS was born with blue eyes, but they are now dark brown like DH's. They changed when he was around 4 months old, but it was gradual. At first they were blue, then they went through a phase of being a kind of steely blue, almost metallic in some lights, then a phase when it was hard to say for certain, and then one day they were just very definitely brown.

Obviously, they were always completely gorgeous Grin

I wonder if the overnight changes are where some of the changeling myths come from? For the first couple of years of dd's life dh and I felt that she stood out as being almost from another family as she was blond and blue eyed and we are dark eyed and dark haired. Not many blonds in our wider family either. Now she is in her teens both her hair and eyes 'fit' (although her hair is currently pink/red/purple!)
