When they grow up

Just got a taste of it today. Oldest dd (5) came home from school with two friends invited for tea. Disappeared with them and my other two children and there's me left just to do the cooking. Don't get me wrong - enjoyed the break. But just had a sense of what it would be like when they reach teens and you're no longer the most important person.
Comments anyone?

Maybe not the Most Important Person but still quite important

The peace and independence is nice (yours, not theirs) but they will come to you when it matters.
