Would you call your child 'trash'?

I know someone who refers to her child as 'trash'. It doesn't seem right, but I'm not a parent so what do I know. Would you? Would you say something? I don't know her all that well.

In what context?

Is it a shortening of name or is she saying he's trash?

Jamboree1234 · 18/11/2013 23:46

In the context of using 'trash' as a name. It isn't short for anything and it isn't used in an aggressive or angry manner. Just 'Hey Trash' instead of 'Hey Tom' or whatever.

Have you any idea why? Seems odd unless there's some back story.

I call my two year old a bog rat, he finds it hilarious, he also has a random orange blob soft toy called Boris the bog rat!

He also called me a tramp the other day (after I called DH a tramp for not tidying up the kitchen) shamefully I couldn't stop myself laughing so he will probably do it again...

Was it a joke like this?

I know someone who calls her child Junk as his name has similar letters and this is what he used to call himself.

floatyflo · 19/11/2013 00:03

I don't think it is meant as rubbish, more trash as in he trashes the place. Like most kids with a bazillion toys and a habit of touching things they shouldn't!

When I was a child I had friends who were twins called Siobhan and Gabriella- they were known as a Smash and Grab......
