The preschool parties have started, ds has his first invite this weekend.

What is a suitable small gift to take along for the 4yo birthday girl? We don't know her well & don't know what she's into.

Any suggestions welcomed!!!

colouring stuff always goes down well I think - packs crayons/books. If you look in poundland you can get some good stuff actually for this kind of thing there.

Buy a big multi pack of books from book people or equivalent and give one per birthday!

A lot of the preschool kids these days are so exposed to technology that you could give ds's friend an online membership to an educational games website. My daughter L got one like that (I've linked it above) and it there was a great bunch of resources on that site that helped her with her reading and math and fine motor skills. If the kids are going to be exposed to technology, might as well do it right. If you're looking for something more standard, activity books, play dough, plastic bowling sets etc are great gifts.

Lego is great for 4yo's and up. I don't know what you want to spend, but have a browse through these:

My ds1 is into Lego City and more boy-related things, but there are some nice girly sets for under £10.

DD just turned 4 and had her first party. Presents included colouring books/pens, toy unicorns, jigsaw puzzles, Charlie and Lola books. All highly appreciated!
