sore dry skin round mouth - what to use?

Hi - both my kids (4 and 2) have patches of sore, red skin round their mouths. Its sort of dry but almost weepy too. They have had it in winter before but it's worse and appeared earlier this year. E45, hydrocortizone cream, moisturizer, tea tree oil to dry it up? Any thoughts appreciated. x

My boys get this, if it's not too bad blistex relief cream clears it up, needs to be applied regularly. With it starting to weep though it may have gone past that would advise going to doctors as may need fucidin cream. When it had healed ensure you are putting chapstick on regularly especially before going outside.

Should have said chapstick because if is caused by licking around lips when lips are dry.

Was going to suggest fucidin.
Ds has a sore patch under his lower lip but it's not weeping, I smear a little sudocrem on as a barrier to the dribble. It seems to be working.

I pile on Vaseline as often as DD will let me (which she wipes off as soon as it is applied...) to give it a chance to heal. It happens every autumn and winter, but she has naturally dry skin and when she licks it, or sucks her coat so it leaves a nice wet cold patch on her chin, there is just no hope of preventing it. I was kind of hoping she might grow out of it (she is 3).

Vaseline.

Bepanthen nappy rash cream. Thin layer on the area, its the best solution I have found!

Lansinoh nipple cream works at treat and no worries if they lick it

Then once it's stopped weeping, Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream once a day, when they're asleep ideally. Amazing stuff.

This is timely-my DS (almost 3) has just developed this problem this week. I'm expecting DC2 soon and have just bought some lanisoh so will give that a go - thanks for the tip TheCokeMachine.

oh cool, I have been wondering what to do with my long defunct tube of lansinoh - I like the putting it on when they're asleep too.
