My hair is falling out!

Sorry if this is not the right place to post - my DS is 4 months old and my hair is starting to fall out in clumps! I'd heard about this but hoped it wasn't going to happen to me. I feel so disgusting already - covered in baby sick, wearing old clothes all the time. Is there anything I can do to stop it? (I already take iron supplements for anaemia)

I think this is pretty normal unfortunately.... Your hair usually doesn't fall out at all when pregnant so after having the baby all the excess hair starts departing at a rapid rate. I went from having lovely thick hair to horrible thin hair in a matter of months. Very depressing, but very normal....

It's due to the drop in hormones after pregnancy. The same ones the slow normal hair shedding during pregnancy which is why women often have thicker hair whilst pregnant. My ds is 18 weeks and I have the same thing. My sis is a hairdresser and says there's nothing to do to prevent it but it will stop of its own accord. Not v helpful but it's really normal and it shouldn't get to the stage where you have bald spots or anything! If that happens get checked over by a doc incase you have a vitamin deficiency or something.

Theres nothing you can do apart from keep it in good condition otherwise good excuse for a trip to the hairdressers and a little break.
