Is this normal?

My 20 month old dd is very bright, learning to talk very well - knows all her colours, can count to ten etc but she has this really bizarre way of coming out with random things at random moments - stuff she remembers from earlier or the day before and sometimes it comes out as a torrent of nonsense and people look at her a bit strangely!!!! Like the other day she kept repeating "sad ball, happy ball" (she was given balls with faces at playgroup the day before) and giggling to herself!!! My inlaws looked at her a bit odd and asked me what on earth she was saying! She will wake from a nap and immediately come out with something random like today " more fireworks" (she saw a firework display yesterday) Is this a normal toddler way of processing all the things that are happening to them or should I be worried?!

They often repeat stuff in order to make sense of it. She sounds utterly delightful!

I love toddlers Grin

Completely normal!

(I have three ex-toddlers, all of whom spouted crap regularly....)

Normal in my limited experience Smile

But beware. The little beasts have the memory of an elephant. You'll think something hasn't registered with them (eg you accidentally swearing in front of them, or being caught in flagrante). But they have stored it in their ROM, and cometh the day, cometh the hour, they will access it. When it's at the most embarrassing moment. You have been warned....
