I've have a 4 month old baby who until a week ago was (after 3 very sleepless months) managed to sleep from 9pm-4am on a night! About 10 days ago he started to wake up about 2ish but we managed to get him back to sleep until his 4am feed! The passed 3 nights he's started waking up every 90 mins for some reason! We put him back to sleep in his cot every time until he wakes for his 4am feed. Any advice on how I get my baby out of this again? Or is this just a phase he's going through?

He has regular naps through the day and is feed every 3-4 on expressed breast milk

Google the four month sleep regression!

I've found it useful to think that sleeping through isn't a linear thing, they'll do it for a bit then they'll stop, then they will again.

I knew before I opened this it would be a 4 month old. Like PP, google 4 month sleep regression, it's very common I think.

It's nearly always a phase with babies! Dd2 is now 12mo and we have been through a number of phases of sleep regression - some for teething, some for colds, some for no obvious reason but if you google 'wonder weeks' there are some clear patterns of sleep regression which often coincide with periods of brain development and activity. You have to grit your teeth, keep telling yourself it will pass soon, and drink coffee in the short term! Wink Dd2 has been waking up constantly at night for the past week, but she is full of cold. I have to keep reminding myself that it won't last and is just a phase, or I'd probably cry!

Also came on expecting a 4mo! That was my life a year ago so you have all my sympathies.

There's no magic solution, we just had to ride it out. Make sure you cover all bases tho, teething - give calpol, too cold in this awful weather - add a layer etc etc.

We also caved and introduced a dummy, which we were never going to do. Did the trick by and large though and he sleeps through about every two night now (huge progress).
