MMR and other jabs at 1st birthday -- how did your child react?

Supposed to go for these next week with first child and very worried about it. Did your child get ill afterwards? How did they respond immediately afterwards? DD is so happy and don't want her to feel bad.

Thanks x

DD was pretty grumpy after the nurse injected her for the 3rd time! The first site wouldn't stop bleeding for a few minutes and by the end of the day her trouser leg had stuck to the site. We took off the trousers in the bath. The other 2 sites were fine. She was fine in herself.

After 10 days or so she had a minor rash and was grumpy for about 48 hours. It was all just as I had expected after reading the NHS materials.

Barely noticed the injection ( i was crying), He ran a bit of a temperature later that afternoon, gave him some calpol at bedtime and he was fine the next day.

Dd2 had her mmr at 8 months in the middle of the outbreak. She was ok straight afterwards but then about a week later had a temperature for 48 hours and we had a few restless nights. Apparently that's the measles part working, and common. Two weeks after that she had swollen glands and a temperature for an evening, that must have been the mumps part, apparently reacting to that is more rare. When she had her scheduled 12 month jabs she didn't react at all, but they were all boosters as she'd had them all before so I wasn't really expecting her to react.

I think dd1 only reacted to the measles part, similar story, rash and temp a week later.

Good luck, the 3 jabs at once isn't pleasant Sad

I was concerned about my DGD having the MMR and offered to pay for separate jabs but she had the MMR plus other jabs. She is fine, alert, playing and responding normally. She did not appear to be affected in any way. I hope this reassures you.

Fine. I was a bit worried that he might be ill/grumpy. But while he wasn't thrilled about being jabbed three times, once he had his afternoon nap and a play in the park he had forgotten it all.

DS was a bit grumpy for about 24 hours after, then absolutely fine after that.

evertonmint · 29/10/2013 19:39

Fine immediately after with both. DS had a bit of a temperature and a couple of off days about a week later which is quite common, although equally it could have been coincidental. DD was fine.

Handbagsonnhold · 29/10/2013 19:41

All was absolutely fine good luck x

mumofboyo · 29/10/2013 19:58

Both were fine. One of the injection sites, can't remember which one, was a bit more raised and red than the others, they were both a bit grumpy and tired the rest of the day and dd has been a bit unsettled overnight a few times since (she only had hers about 3wks ago) but other than that neither of them have had a problem with them.

LovelyWeatherForDucks · 29/10/2013 20:04

DS had his last Thursday and has been upset and miserable since the weekend, with a slight temperature at times, and not sleeping great. Not sure if its co-incidence or not! (Molars also coming through so could be teething too) Apparently the effects can happen up to 2/3 weeks later as different parts of the vaccines kick in at different times. The actual jabs were fine, the two in his arms are still a little red and swollen but don't think it is bothering him.
