At what age can you safely have your little one in the bed with you?

I'm not talking about co-sleeping where you have to make adjustments, just bog standard little one in between mum and dad because he's not feeling well?

We have had ds in with us from birth but now at 15 months he just gets in with his own blanket on my side.
