iPad Internet safety for kids

So my 7 yo DS occasionally watches cartoons on the ipad, googles things on safari and watches free youtube videos.
How do I keep him from stumbling on to some sex website or video?
I don't want to ban Safari or youtube completely for him.

A quick google found this explanation of parental controls. Was that the sort of thing you were after?

No, not at all. Want to hear from parents what software they use and what it is like for their families.
iPad parental controls can only disable apps.

I wasn't sure whether you had already looked into parental controls or not. Does the Allowed Content section not allow you to control what websites can be accessed?

(Hopefully someone with experience of doing this will come along soon - my ds is only 15 months so I have yet to deal with this!)
