Summer shoes/sandals for dd without socks - any chance?

I've tried, without success and subsequent red marks, to find suitable footwear for dd (2.4) so she can go without socks. It seems so unfair for her to be in socks in this lovely weather. Barefoot at home/garden is fine but out and aboout and at the CM is a no-no. Has anyone found a make or style that can sort this problem?

My DD wears startrite sandals without socks. She did however wear them with socks until they were broken in. Also occasinally wears her doodles without socks.

dd has a thing about socks (she likes them) and I have to really persuade her to wear sandals without...

Bozza · 05/07/2006 10:28

DD's sandals - no holes in the side. I looked on the Startrite website but they are not showing - I think sandals are now sale items. Got DD some more Startrite ones last week in the sale.

Bozza · 05/07/2006 10:29

cupcakes DS was like that in his younger days. Still is a bit. And always whinging about how he can't play football in sandals and he needs to wear his trainers.

DD (2.4) has some from woolworths which seem ok.

wishfulthinking · 05/07/2006 10:31

DD has doodles too but will search for the birkenstock-style quick-sticks. Merci beaucoup!

What sorts have you tried? DD has got a couple of pairs of shoes she wears without socks.

Jellies from Woolies - did make a mark the first time, but I did the buckle up looser, and they're fine now.

Leather buckle sandals like this except ours were £7 from Woolies again. These are nice because they are fully adjustable.

DSs always wore Doodles at that age and they were fine too, just haven't got round to getting DD any yet.

LiliLaTigresse · 05/07/2006 10:35

ecco are brilliant
v comfy (dd usually hates sandals without socks as too tough on her feet but loves her eccos and wears them sockless)

wishfulthinking · 05/07/2006 10:37

Gulp!!!!!! It was only 2 months ago that I had dd measured, purchased the sandals/doodles and thought (foolishly) they would see her through the summer. Ho-hum.

mine have both got these from Next not sure if the link will work

under corkbed sandals, ones with yellow soles and flowers, £6.99

Birks rip offs which are a no no on me, but fine on my children! ha.

Is it the 'done thing' to go to get your child measured at Clarks and then go to purchase at Next? Thats the kind of style I'm thinking of Olive.

abso-bloody-lutely

Bozza · 05/07/2006 10:48

doodles great for sending a potty training child to nursery in. They can get all the sand and paint etc on them, wee on them, come home and bung them in the washer. I was not going to send her in her £25 white Startrite sandals, was I? I do now because she has some new sandals and despite all my precautions has wrecked the white ones. Doodles also good for park with chippings etc.

wishfulthinking · 05/07/2006 10:49

Oooo-errrr Olive - guess what I'm doing next week when I'm off!

link to doodles please, never heard of them

only prob with the Next ones I find, is that if they do a lot of walking (as dd1 does) then they can rub slightly on the ankle. Which wasn't a problem AT ALL until MIL pointed it out to dd1 and now she moans .

They do look cute with matching though

ds has doodles for school as they won't let them wear open toed sandles but has proper kickers sandles for rest of time.
dd also has startrite version of doodles for playgroup and Boden sandles for when the heat is on.
