Sudden worsening of silent reflux in 15mo - help please!

DS 15mo, diagnosed with SR at 7 mo. His symptoms (and sleep) improved greatly on meds. We thought we were in the clear, even discussed reducing meds with doctor (DS is on 10mg omeprazole)but this past week it's like being back to the old pre med days. He's really uncomfortable, wakes several times very upset....It just seems so similar symptom wise it must be the SR but I have no idea why it's suddenly got so much worse. We hadn't reduced meds.. Really need some help and suggestions. We are all of us shattered!

Are you sure it's the reflux? Could it be something like teeth instead - both my children have disturbed nights for a week or two whenever they cut new teeth. How is he during the day? I know from experience that when you've had a baby with reflux you worry that it is the root cause of every problem. Have you tried Calpol?

Is there any type of food that you have introduced recently that could have caused the reflux symptoms to flare up? If you think it probably is the reflux then maybe you could try increasing the medication for a few days - I would have thought that if it helped before then it will help again. My DD2 went onto Omeprazole at 3 months and the safe dosage range for her then was between 3 and 13mg, so it would be safe for you to slightly increase the dose for a 15 month old. You could discuss with the GP if worried.

Thanks - I thought teeth possibly.... But he's got 9 already (including molar) and we didn't have this drama. Do teeth make tummies more acidic....? Oh I don't know.we gave him dorm neurofen to see whether it makes any difference, none, just like other nights this week he woke at 9ish and shows not indication he's going back soon. He'll wake again in the night for another 2 hours,

I can't think i
Of new food - we did try red lentils on Sunday (the first bad night) but I can't believe they're still the culprit.

I agree tho- I think my instinct is always to pin it on the SR, possibly because I wasn't believed for so long by the GP ... But he is displaying all the symptoms..

Teething does apparently make the stomach more acidic! I was told this when I tried to find out why my DS gets such sore lips periodically (and he has reflux too).

I did a quick google search and noticed that 15 months is a common time for a sleep regression. Apparently this is a time when many new developments are made and lots of babies start to have trouble with sleeping (crosses fingers that 13 month old DD2 is not going to have this).

You could research this idea, or if you still think it is the reflux, try upping the dose a little? If you gave it a few days and no improvement you could always reduce it back down again.

I had 3 with reflux - my sympathies!

Did you suddenly stop or quickly reduce meds? This can cause a sudden over dose of stomach acid returning.

I was told my daughter had reflux, constipation and allergy to cows milk protein I stopped all medication as it made no difference on or off I just keep her off dairy shes 2 and a half now

His medicines may need increasing if hes put weight on as its not as effective otherwise.
He may be coming down with a virus or something and reflux plays upa lot then too
My ds is3 and I know all about reflux unfortunately
He still refluxs to this day

It is more normal for them to grow out of it at 1 though. My first was 18 months before we got him off it because nobody told us what to do. We kept just trying to take him off and of course it got worst until a Doctor finally told us to reduce by 1ml a week.

My second was 14 mnths and my third is still on meds at nearly 14 months but we are in the process of reducing meds which is going well so far.
