Hi guys, my little ds has got a dreadful cold and bad cough. I have given him nurofen, but was wondering if you had any tips to help ease the cold, no temperature, but very congested :(
Any advice appreciated. X

Baby olbas oil. Put a few drops in a bowl of hot water in the bedroom. You can also get baby Vicks.

No doubt someone will now suggest youvput vicks on soles of feet.

Poor wee thing, they're horrible at that age. Propping the head of his cot up May help with the cough, too, by keeping his head elevated.

Colds are horrible at that age, not babies!!

For DS the midwives suggested putting Vicks on my neck so that he could breathe it in during feeds but not get overwhelmed. When his throat is sore I also sit his bouncy chair in the bathroom while I shower as the steam is good to clear him up, plus he thinks it's a hilarious way to play peekaboo Smile

We also use the saline spray + nose clearer thing, but I'm not 100% convinced that the impact of this (and the undoubted satisfaction of examining my haul) is worth how much it upsets him. Would be interested to hear what others think!
