I'm not sure if this is normal as he is growing up. But even just a few weeks ago he would have a good hour and a half - two hours in the morn and a couple of hours after lunch. Now it's more like 45 minutes.

Is that normal?

Thanks xx

I'm no expert but I think by around 11mo most babies one short nap and one longer nap per day. Ie. a 30-40 minute nap in the morning, and a 90 minute nap mid afternoon.

OR your LO might be trying to tell you he is ready to drop to just one (hopefully nice, long) nap per day. I think this can happen around 1 year old?

What time does he wake up in the morning? If it's around 7am, see if you can keep him awake until noon...give a nice early lunch at 1130am and then put him down at noon and maybe he will sleep for 2 hours? Might then need a big snack at 2/2.30ish to see him through till dinner time though.

I am jealous! My 9mo has never napped! I SOMETIMES manage to get him to have half an hour in the morning, but that's all, he is usually awake from 6:30am- 7pm! Argh!

Doodle you have my sympathies. I know a mummy friend who has the same with her DS and yet as a baby he was always asleep!! Used to make me feel a failure as my son was always crying lol

Actually yesterday's afternoon nap was nice and long so I feel a but better about it. I popped him in his grow bag and he was all snuggled, wonder if that might have helped.

Bot, he is usually up around 6.30 and has a bf, then plays with daddy upstairs until 8am then he has toast and porridge. He then goes for a nap around 9am, lunch around noon, afternoon nap around 1pm, bottle feed around 3pm, 5pm dinner, bf 7pm then bed where he normally sleeps through.

DS naps have always varied at around his first birthday he was only having 40 mins then he started doing 2 hours then not napping at all now he does about 40 -60 mins a day this has all been within the last 8 months.

I think it depends if they are focusing on learning something physical or not just now he is learning how to jump and hop so spends a lot of energy so sleeps more.
