DD is 6minths, been in get cot in the nursery for three weeks, but we still haven't finished decorating and need to rearrange furniture as its become a storage room.

Thinking ahead a bit to her crawling....should we keep the changing unit and change her up there? Should we set up the changing stuff on the floor instead?

How do you use your nursery with your crawler/walker?

I just change where ever we are - but I always have done. Now my ds is old enough to express an opinion, moving him to his bedroom to change him as apposed to keeping him beside his toys would end in melt down.

We've always changed on a mat on the floor in the bathroom. One wee into the cot early on put apid to any changing on a carpeted floor unless necessary!

The floor is much safer!

Floor as soon as they can roll. Too easy to take your eyes off them for a second and that's all it takes.

As soon as DD started rolling we moved to the floor. I have mats, nappies and wipes etc in baskets one in living room the other in DD's room. Now she is crawling she is never still when it's nappy time the floor is much safer. The cot top changer was a waste of money for us but I shall not admit that to DH Grin

We have got a changing unit at the end of our bed as there was never room in the nursery. Its got high sides and I haven't had an issue with using it yet. DD is almost 13 months.

mrscog · 17/10/2013 12:34

We've always just changed DS on the floor on a mat.

YBR · 17/10/2013 12:57

On the floor. Always. Even when there's a fold-down change shelf with strap available.
We have a padded waterproof changing mat which moves round DD's bedroom floor, it normally has a terry cloth on it in case of leaks since wee would otherwise run off onto the carpet.

Floor or bed. I like to use the bed as it's a big comfy space (with mat underneath obvs) but floor too if we're not in the bedroom.

Cot-top changers sound dangerous to me. Plus we spent hardly any time in the "nursery" when DS was a baby.
