Lovely presents/gifts etc you received when baby arrived?

My friend has just had her new baby on Friday.
When I had my first child she totally overwhelmed me with a huge hamper of everything I could possibly need for the first year!

I just cant think of anything to compete with that (compete in a nice way). This is her 2nd baby so makes it a bit harder.

Anyway I've bought a few outfits/bits and pieces/keepsake box/pabobo light/toys but now I've run out of ideas.

I was thinking of taking some nice foody bits when I go and see her next week but just wondered if you guys had received anything that you thought was great!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My favourite gift was a hand knitted shawl for DS, it's so intricate and beautiful!

Other favourite gifts were soft blankets for the pram or car seat, and a nappy changing box ready filled with nappies and baby toiletries and a very beautiful baby grow from John Lewis.

I was pleased to get practical presents, and it's the thought that counts so don't worry about 'competing'.

My favourite gifts were Grobags and a baby swing.

A friend got me a bag of HER children's favourite books, from That's not mu Puppy up to the Gruffilo. She had put so much thought in, i was really touched.

My v shaped pillow and a bumper pack of muslins were also so appreciated and useful!

I just recieved a gorgeous blanket with my baby's name embroided on it. the kind of thing that's lovely but I wouldn't have bought for myself.

For friends I have crocheted pram-sized blankets using a beautiful soft yarn called Baby Bamboo which comes in lovely soft colours - you could look for something similar on Etsy?

We have also done bundles of books based on our children's favourites with a hand-written note from the children.

One of my friends made a hamper for ME - she bought lots of nice Clarins product, organic shampoo conditionner, a little make up box with mini eye shadow/lippy/mascara. It was lovely!

My loveliest and oldest friend brought me a hamper of delicious goodies that I hadn't been able to eat throughout pregnancy. The highlights were wild boar pate and a selection of gins! Mmmm! If you decide to buy baby clothes, may I suggest going for at least size 3 months plus. We've been snowed under with newborn clothes which he's nearly outgrown already at 4 weeks (mind you, he's a chunky monkey!). Another favourite gift was a book of little songs and rhymes for little ones- great because I seem to have forgotten them all. It's called "this little puffin" and has a lovely collection.

Have fun OP- shopping for babbers is so much fun :) xx
